This position will provide technical expertise in the area of non-imaging
optical/photometric design, product development and test/measurement related to LED
Lighting Systems. The engineer will execute reflector and refractor designs to meet
performance requirements as specified by product management, as well as perform R&D
investigation and characterization of new optical technologies within the Innovation
Group. This role will also be responsible for sourcing support for optical devices and
materials on an as-needed basis.
Working hours: Day Shift
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Optical Engineering,
Engineering Physics or related discipline with at least 3 years experience in design of
optical systems, preferably with background in the lighting segment and/or Solid State
Lighting. This individual must exhibit a demonstrated understanding of optical
materials, optical testing, reliability, and life testing through the product development
life cycle, familiarity with optical/photometric test equipment with a preferred
knowledge of existing photometric test & measurement standards and a fundamental
understanding of optical manufacturing methods. Demonstrated capability with a standard
optical design package (Photopia preferred) with preference given to a candidate
experienced in SolidWorks or other CAD-based tools. This position requires extensive
domestic travel with significant time spent at our west-coast LED facility. Well
developed interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to work in a team
environment as also required.
